Just a quick post to let you in on a useful resource for studying. www.mindcert.com is a site dedicated to using Mind Mapping to increase recall and aid study. At the moment, the site is running through both the CISSP and Certified Ethical Hacker modules, with more to come down the line.

The interesting thing is, the guy who runs the site (none other than Andrew Mason - Author of various Cisco Press Study titles) was my boss for 4 years. Believe me when I say this, if there is one person you want to listen to regarding study and certification, Andrew is that person.He converted quite a lot of people I know over to mind maps, including myself.

Personally, I used to find when I got to the end of a study guide, I would have nearly as many pages of written study notes. This is highly inefficient, not to mention quite badly organised. Mind Mapping allows you to order things logically, add hyper links and images. These items help you to recall particular areas of the map more easily. When you get to the end of your study, and need to revise, all the information is there, concise and in order. Not thrown around your study, with coffee stains and biscuit crumbs

The other key is to sum things up, as opposed to copying war and peace word for word. The keywords help you to recall more of what you were studying at the time.
