Archive for the News CategoryTodays featured product on Cisco.com is the 3560 Series switches. There is a Video Datasheet on there as well which seems to be becoming the norm for Cisco products. Check it out Here Cisco have put their Video Data Sheet for the new 5580 Firewall up on their site. Watch it Here This one certainly caught my eye. It looks like something from Star Wars and has the performance to match! It can support upto 512 10 Gigabit interfaces which in laymans terms can only be described as a metric assload. Hi All, I guess you could say we are a little late to the party with this one but things have been quite hectic! Im sure some people will not have seen that Cisco have added a new top of the range Firewall to their lineup.

The ‘new’ Cisconews Ports databasePosted by: admin in News, Study Related, Tricks and TipsSome of you may remember portsdb.org which was a valuable tool when searching for port information, but unfortunately this website has been gone and thought to be lost for over 2 years. Cisconews is proud to announce its impending resurrection!!! (more…) This one could be useful for anybody looking to upgrade to a newer IOS or feature set. Crucial, one of the worlds biggest Memory manufacturers now sell Cisco Compatible Memory. Simple go to www.crucial.com select Cisco as the manufacturer and then pick your device type. It will tell you which memory you need and how many free slots you will have. Best of all, it will be far cheaper than buying from Cisco. This one came as quite a suprise to me. There is no Cisco IPSEC based VPN client available for Vista 64. Not only that, but it does not look like there will be one any time soon. They are trying to nudge people in the direction of the AnyConnect client which uses TLS for security! Unfortunately, this cannot be used with the PIX series of hardware appliances. As soon as we get more information on this front it will be posted here. Hi Again, I’m going to add more shots of the interface over the next couple of days then do a short write-up on the changes. Ciscos version 8 software for the ASA is now available in the form of an Early deployment release. This release apparantly contains improvements for SSL VPN configuration. The release notes are available here: ASAv8 I will report back after testing this. Edit: Just upgraded both ASA and ASDM. The interface is vastly different from a visual point of view, but the configuration side of things still looks the same. Bare in mind that I have been playing with this for literally 5 minutes. Some screenshots of the interface, These are from a Lab ASA5505. White gaps are where I have deleted private details. These were taken over an RDP session with a less than optimal colour palette. In reality, some of the GUI is actually ORANGE. The graphs look like they have been vastly improved also, almost Vector style in that when you expand ASDM to full screen, it brings the graphs with it. Quite a neat touch. You can even right click and save these as .png image files for viewing later, or to add to reports for customers. I don’t recall this being a feature in 7.2 and earlier, but I will confirm this. Ill try and post a more complete round-up of the changes over the weekend. As a reference point, NTL (now Virgin Media) spent £13 billion on their infrastructure in order to deliver Cable broadband and business services. I’m sure that moving away from PSTN is no bad thing… |
