Cisco have just released information on their new ASR 1000 series Edge Router. This is designed to compete with the likes of Juniper. A couple of interesting features: This is just about the coolest network related thing I have ever seen. Basically a mobile ops centre for disasters such as Hurricaine Katrina. Check out the Cisco NERV HERE This one is probably of little interest to most, but Cisco have posted their Q2 financial results. Needless to say they made a gazillion dollars or something. Read more Here Well, this one is not strictly related to Cisco but heavily related to Information Security. Basically, anyone responsible for configuration of Security Devices can make use of this software to secure their data. Cisco PEC has long been a tool that we at Cisconews have used extensively. Unfortunately, a lot of people do not know about it or assume it will not really be of any use, this could not be further from the truth. Todays featured product on Cisco.com is the 3560 Series switches. There is a Video Datasheet on there as well which seems to be becoming the norm for Cisco products. Check it out Here Here is an interesting fact for those looking at buying a new Cisco switch. In the past, you had to pay for a Crypto image which supported features such as SSH. Today, you buy the switch in its default config and request the crypto image from your supplier for free. Im not sure if this applies to older switches but it might be worth a shot trying Alas poor Telnet, I knew him…..well Cisco have put their Video Data Sheet for the new 5580 Firewall up on their site. Watch it Here Keep checking back. I hope to have a Cisco MARS review on here within the week. For those interest, MARS is a groundbreaking product aimed at helping network Administrators make use of the multitude of logs they have stored around the place. |
