Hi All,
A quick update to the site! We have finally started adding good quality Images of Cisco products to the site. They can be found at the Gallery or can be seen rolling by in the slideshow to your right!
Now when you need to figure out what interfaces and options a device has you can look through these images. They should be useful when you are supporting a device remotely and cannot remember what they look like!
So far we have the ASA 5505, Cat 500 express switch and the 1242 Wireless AP. We are hoping to add more as soon as possible!
If you have any requests for Images, leave a comment and we will see what can be done.

As a lot of you will know, the cost of the CCIE lab equipment is what scares a lot of people aware from attempting it. The CCIE has traditionally been regarded as something that cannot be done independantly. Most people get the backing of their employer when it gets to this point.
What if there was an alternative? What if you could build a CCIE lab to practice on for the cost of a Good PC? Interested? Check out the following link:

This covers building the CCIE security Lab using freely available emulators and VMWARE. No, it probably wont be perfect, but it certainly wont be £40,000 either.
Give it a try and let us know how you get on!

Cisco strike again! Another exam without official study material. Seems if you want to pass an exam these days you either have to take the course, or use cisco.com and pray that you cover everything!
I recently took and passed this exam and used the following:

This is quite an interesting feature, and one that you wouldnt usually expect on a device like this.
Basically, when running IDS/IPS/Snort or any other packet sniffer in promiscuous mode, you need a way to “mirror” traffic from your hosts, to your IDS box. With Cisco switches, this is achieved through the use of the “monitor” commands, which set up Cisco SPAN ports (Switch Port Analyzer).

Ciscopress seems to be down at the time of publishing this article but this is not the reason for my writing. Cisco examination books are notoriously difficult to get hold of so your not alone if you can’t find the one you need, here follows a list direct from the Cisco site of the current CCSP exams and a definitive list of books available compliled by myself:

This guide covers configuration of remote access (client) VPN on a Cisco ASA or PIX Firewall using the wizard (This should transfer quite well to Cisco Routers also). It is aimed at beginners to VPNs.

Truecrypt is a tool I use quite often, it is basically a FREE encryption tool, much like DriveCrypt.
You can even use a file to decrypt with as opposed to a password. It really is a very good piece of software. The fact that it is free is just a nice big bonus
Check it out for yourselves:
